"How Do I build a Website?" 

 

At first, I didn't feel the need to understand website creation. I used to think that only people who run the business are the ones that really need to understand them. However, in this day and change, I start to think that understanding how to make a simple website is necessary. At least, if we have the skills to create a simple website, it will be very profitable for us. 

Why do We Need Websites?

In business, having a website is an opportunity to make a great first impression and give people comfort that you're a real business. It helps to establish your image by letting the audience know who you are and what you represent. A website provides consumers with trustworthy information, which helps your company stand out from the competition. 

For personal use, a website is usually used for a portfolio. You can build your own image and branding. It will help recruiters find about who are you ー the one you want everyone to know. So, If they searched your name, your old embarrassing Facebook page won't show up.  Instead, they will get an instant visual representation of who you are. 

What Can We Use?

You can use a simple and very easy-to-use website builder such as google sites or WIX. They have a really simple template but still allow you to customize it by yourself. If you want it to be more complex, you can build your one and only website from the scratch, (which I don't really understand. But I hope I can learn about it).

1. Up first, you need to open the google chrome app and search 'Wix' on the google search. You can use google chrome or Firefox.

2. You will see the 'www.wix.com'. Click it.

3. You will be brought to the landing page website where there's a box 'Get Started'

4. After that, you can use the email that you want, but I will use the email that I have and select the 'sign-up' button. That's the new account that you will use.

5. You will be brought to a new landing homepage and start all over again

6. Because we're just going to make a good beginner website, we're going to go with 'get started' button

7. And then, you will be brought to a page where you need to put what kind of website are you creating.

8. Search it on the search box and find the one that is compatible

9. For the next step, there are two main options, so I supposed that you will fill it with anything you need.

10. For another aspect of your main website, you can choose from the options down below and click 'next'.

11. You will be brought to the next page, and because we're just going to do a beginner website, we are going to go with 'This is my first time.

12. Actually, in this option, you can choose based on your experience but for now, we'll choose the 'first-time' option.

13. On the next page, will have 2 options where you can go with Wix ADI where it will design the blueprint for your website and the second option is allowed if you have more control and knowledge over the Wix editor.

14. After all of that, click 'start now.

15. In the next step, you need to put your website name.

16. On this page, if you have a beforehand website, you can put the link on the existing website box, so the data will be transferred from your website to the Wix editor. If you have an address for the office location, I suggest you put the address on the address box below

17. After that, click skip

18. We need to put our website's main information so the website will have the same main info. fill in the info that you needed, including the social link for your social media

19. Click next.

20. We need to choose the main theme to be applied on our Wix website. you can choose whatever you want because you can always change it later

21. Click continue.

22. Choose the favorite design/blueprint for your website. there'll be 3 options, and you need to choose one from those. Don't worry, you can always customize the website later.

23. Click 'use this design'.

24. You will be brought to the next page and after that, you need to add pages/sections to your site.

25. There’ll be many choices and you can choose the compatibility with your business model or your desired website model

26. Click 'edit site' if you have chosen your choices

27. Basically, that was our last step to make the website and we will be brought to the Wix editor where we could go to see our website online.

28. You can see around the Wix editor and edit some of your website models.

29. Use the top left part where there's an 'add', 'design', 'manage', and 'home' box to edit your website

30. After that. you will need to publish the website. You can do like so with the right top part where there's a box called 'Publish'

31. The last step is you will be given a domain/link where you can go to see your website. if you want a free domain/link for your website, you can go with 'Use a free wix.com domain'

32. Click 'Publish and continue'

33. Congratulations! and there you are, you have published your very first website as easily as it looks. You can see your website from the last page you have with the link below 'Your site is published here.'
